Suffolk Construction’s Project Executive Chris Lewis showcases all of the construction and site preparations underway at The Residences at 400 Central. Three tower construction cranes have been recently installed on site. The tower cranes are at their “first jump” that will jump floor by floor up to 650 feet – right above the top of the tower!
The Residences at 400 Central has completed the deep foundation. The team is now working on the foundation system which is made of drilled shafts that tie into the horizontal rebar to create a large concrete mat, which will serve as the foundation that supports the superstructure of the tower.
Last month, the developers closed on $252 million in construction financing from Bank OZK, one of the nation’s most-active construction lenders. Currently, contractors building 400 Central have completed drilling nearly 90 steel-reinforced foundation pilings, some of them down to 180 feet deep. The development spanning an entire block is nearing a construction milestone as the developer finalizes preparations to pour 6,500 cubic yards of concrete in the next few weeks to create the base of the tower. To put it in perspective, that is five basket ball courts and eight feet worth of concrete!
