St. Pete was recognized for its weather, water, trails, entertainment and professional sports teams.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Thinking of taking a trip sometime soon but don’t know where to?Well according to Tripadvisor, you should consider heading to St. Petersburg.
The travel research platform named the Florida city in its top four of this year’s Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations – with St. Pete being ranked No. 2.
According to Tripadvisor, St. Pete was recognized for its weather, water, trails, entertainment and professional sports teams.
“The sun almost always shines on St. Petersburg, the ‘Sunshine City’ that enjoys an average of 361 days of clear skies per year,” the report reads. “Combine that with 244 miles of glimmering coastline along Tampa Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, Boca Ciega Bay and the intra-coastal waterways and you have one hot beach destination.”
Tripadvisor also says those who vacation in St. Pete are recommended to try out surfing at Fort DeSoto Park, taking a hike at Pinellas Trail or catching a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game.
The city also has downtown scenery to offer to its guests, the report mentions.
St. Pete was not the only Florida city named in the Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations.
The island community of Marathon located in the Florida Keys was third on the list. It was applauded for its “tropical getaway” with plenty of family-friendly activities and attractions available, such as swimming with dolphins, snorkeling and boating.

According to the report, all cities across the country were ranked based on their hotel, restaurants and things to do that received high reviews over a 12-month period.
“Fewer than 1% of Tripadvisor’s 8 million listings are awarded Best of the Best, signifying the highest level of excellence in travel,” Tripadvisor wrote in the report. “Congrats to all of the 2024 winners and a big thanks to the travelers who made it possible.”
